Started out okay but devolved into a boring story with an agenda. The principal protagonist makes some ridiculous statements as the three books progress. Towards the end of the third book the author makes an effort put forth an anti gun sentiment. After our hero shoots an enemy soldier from a good distance, the author writes that he puts the "Hated" rifle between the seats. A rifle or handgun is nothing more than a tool to be used as the owner intends. No reason to hate something that has saved his worthless life many times. I noted that the author is from England which explains why he doesn't like firearms. He should place his stories in England not the USA where over 300 million firearms exist.
I read each of the Willow Falls novels with Kindle Unlimited when they first came out last year, but I couldn't resist picking up a copy of the box set for my permanent collection as soon as I saw it.This is what great post apocalyptic fiction should be. It's about regular folks surviving disaster, not impossibly tough, implausibly skilled ex-military types who can strip an assault rifle in ten seconds flat and seem to have been preparing for the apocalypse since kindergarten. Shep's father may have been a hardcore prepper, but the apple fell far from the tree and Shep himself is caught with his pants down almost as much as everyone else.What makes Willow Falls so real is that when the time comes to save himself, just like his daddy taught him, Shep realizes that he never prepared himself emotionally for leaving behind everyone he cares about. That's what gets him into such trouble, and it's what makes this such a compelling page turner.Five stars.
Well developed characters and he’s great at developing the scene. Just enough action to keep me at the edge of my seat but without the usual shoot out running from scene to scene found in other books. I’ve read six of his books non stop and on on to my last set. Write more, write faster!
The hero, Shep, has a perfect retreat but instead has chosen to help others. I’m not sure what the author was saying about the enemy POW but I thought a bullet was the answer. Some complicated situations arise but all ends well.
Finally I get a book written more the war I have it figured that the U.S. Will go down. Very few stable minds will be found. But there will be a lot of horror to go around.
4 stars because in my humble opinion it ended too soon. They had just reached the safe zone and left the people from their hometown high and dry. They did not even bother to lobby for their help.Not my heroes.
I drank down America Strong in one big, all-night gulp. What a terror. The characters are realistically drawn, normal people caught up in terrifying circumstances that seem all to real. I enjoyed the whole set, but the first book sticks with me, and I was not disappointed reading all the way to the end. Taylor is someone I will watch for more Post-Apocalyptic fiction.
The William Fall Series is an excellent read. Keith Taylor captured the readers attention and kept it throughout the entire series. No slow parts in the series.
