I have heard of cryptocurrency for over 5 years now. Didn't have a clue how it worked, and I still wouldn't have if I didn't read this short guide. I had a couple of friends that made a lot of money during the time when bitcoins suddenly aired all over the news. But shortly after it crashed earlier this year, I thought the whole thing was just a scam or something.Boy was I wrong. This book is like being introduced to the potential of the internet if we were still in 2005!The great thing about this book is that the author sheds light on the whole entire concept of cryptocurrency. I was introduced to many different subjects and subcategory of crypto very quickly, and everything was informative and simple to understand. A great intro to this digital space, and it is definitely a book you'll want to read with a highlighter.

I was recommended this book by a friend and came into it having zero knowledge and being completely uninvolved with anything related to cryptocurrency. This is a great primer on the past history, present condition and future potential of what blockchain tech has to offer. This is a very straightforward and informative entrance into the crypto space with a lot more information than expected. I was surprised at how in-depth it went on many topics. It covers many basic concepts and also explains some pretty technical stuff in simple terms. A succinct yet informative read. Would definitely recommend it to everyone who is interested in knowing more about bitcoins and cryptocurrency.

I really think that everyone should have this knowledge, regardless of who you are or even if you care about cryptocurrency or not. Get rid of debt, stop borrowing and close all bank accounts! This is the only way to true economic freedom.

Let's be clear, this is a book on C# 6 and not .NET Framework 4.6. On the cover it states the book covers .NET Framework 4.6 but it only gives a very general overview of it. This isn't necessarily a bad thing because it means the lion share of this huge 1000+ page nutshell is dedicated to the C# language. In addition to an overview section, many of the individual sections cover elements of .NET Framework 4.6 but not deeply.Other books that cover .NET in greater detail, in addition to covering C#, are far too big. For example, the Apress book "C# 6.0 and the .NET 4.6 Framework" by Andrew Troelsen is a 1700+ page book that weighs 5.5 pounds!! This O'Reilly Nutshell book goes deeper into C# than the aforementioned tome. C# and .NET are both deep subjects that should be covered in separate books.One reason I often shy away from the O'Reilly 'Nutshell' series of books is because the pages are smaller and as a consequence, the font is also small. It's not easy to read code when it's printed this small.This book also has a very handy pocket reference that's sold separately here on Amazon. I keep the full length book at home and take pocket reference to work.

I originally bought this book as our class "textbook" for a c# programming class at University. After reading through the whole thing I loved it and brought it to sit on my desk at work, as I also program in c# at work. This is the first desk reference I have ever found to be worthwhile and would highly recommend it to anyone interested.

This really gets right to the point in explaining the concepts you may be new to or have forgotten due to a lack of practice. Its a great book for individuals with basic understanding of computer programming but, would not recommend it for people who want to teach themselves computer programming. For people who are new to computer programming you should try out the Head First books.

This is definitely the definitive guide... oh my. I especially love the quick lookup tabs on the right side, so it's easier to find information. This covers such a wide range of topics, it's simply incredible. This thing always sits in front of me on my desk for quick reference.

I consider myself well versed in C# and it is my favorite language. To keep challenging myself, I like to read books from time to time so I don't grow arrogant. This book humbled me (which is a good thing!) If you like C# and swimming in the deep end, highly recommended! If you are newer to the language, I would start with something lighter. Impressive writing. Definitely a long read, but well worth it.

This is the third version of C# in a Nutshell that I've purchased. The Albahari's do a great job of concisely explaining all aspects of the latest version of C#. Sure the Internet has lots of snippets of how to do things in C#, but this is a great go-to source for not only those, but why things work that way, and often recommendations of which of the many different ways to do something is preferable.

This is one of the best code reference books I have ever owned. It is very well written and has tons of useful information in it. The authors also wrote LinqPad, so they know their stuff. This has been invaluable for writing C# code and working with MVC and Linq. Buy this book you won't regret it!

The only thing wrong with this book is that it will be updated for a new version before I can read it all! Seriously it is a great reference and very well organized.

A few years ago, after living through the worst presidency I've witnessed, that of Bush 43, I began to pay more attention to econo-political ideas. I was a moderate leftist, believing that conservatives and their Wall St partners had bankrupted the world economy. I was very receptive to liberal criticisms of so-called capitalism and the profit motive as the conduit for the greed that led to the aforesaid bankruptcy. It really seemed to me that the only solution was a more stringent regulatory environment. Looking back on it, I can still understand why I believed as I did.Somewhere along the line, I began to start questioning my beliefs. I went back to school to earn an MBA and learned more about finance and economics. I hypothesized my own views about all this as though I were a business owner or CEO, facing turbulent market conditions. Then I noticed something. No business owed me a job, no gov't agency owed me survival, no one else owed me anything. In simple terms, my needs place no justifiable moral obligation on anyone else.Although I was familiar with this book, I felt for a long time that I wasn't ready for it. Should all those liberal beliefs I'd adopted turn out to be wrong? In some ways, no. I was still sure that bigotry and nationalism weren't defensible. In basically every other way, yes. Liberal economic ideas are, once you're honest about policy ideas, fully indefensible.Conservative or liberal leaning, I definitely recommend one take the ideas advanced in this book seriously. Consider them and be honest with yourself. The most extraordinary idea for me is that the cause of most of the problems of which we lament is the same regulatory power we hope will fix them. After this I'll be studying economic history of this regulatory environment to determine if/how it led to market imbalances and distorted incentives. So long as gov't has legal power over commerce, crony capitalism (NOT REAL CAPITALISM) will never end. Yet I'm curious to see how the regulatory machinery may create more problems than it solves. For now, I'd consider myself tentatively in favor of laissez faire capitalism.I can also fully recommend the blog talk radio podcast of Dr Yaron Brook. It's a very thought provoking show for those tired of being locked into the outdated liberal-conservative buckets.

This is a 5 star book to understand the philosophy of Capitalism and the horrors of other systems. It does not endeavor to explain capitalism nor should it. I'm not sure Adam Smith felt the same way as Ayn Rand about "why" capitalism is so virtuous, but his book is better to understand the foundations of the system. Rand helps understand why it is better than any other. I believe that she also understood the need for government and implicit in that is "a mixed economy." Once you have government protecting any right of free man, it will infringe on what someone else feels is his/her right. If you have no basis in philosophy, this book can be cumbersome, full of "-isms" and "-ibilities." It is fun and educational whether you believe in capitalism or not.

The chapter What is Capitalism takes one back a bit, because it goes into the roots of why in any free or semi-free society, we must have property rights and individual rights to trade, i.e. capitalism. The chapter, The Roots of War is completely brilliant, and should be required reading in public schools IMO. More could have been said about how EVERY market is ALREADY regulated by supply and demand, and all gov regulations can possibly do is offer counter-orders to the inescapable laws and effects of demand and supply, mucking up how free markets regulate themselves in various brilliant ways. (There is no such thing as an unregulated market). Another example, not only are monopolies not possible in a free market, (a point driven ad nauseam by libertarians), but it's also true that shortages and surpluses are impossible, as these can only occur when price controls are instituted by economically illiterate bureaucrats. (Realize that shortages and scarcity are two different things). Shortages will cause scarcity, but scarcity CANNOT cause shortages in a free market. The chapter The Property Rights of Airwaves seems a bit out of place and an academic exercise that's a bit irrelevant. For anyone interested in how free markets self-regulate, I recommend The Government Against The Economy, by economist George Reisman. A brilliant short book. 'Not to be confused with his magnum opus titled Capitalism.

The way the book was going I thought I would be okay and not cry. I WAS WRONG!The main character is Jeff, he wakes up in the psych ward and finds out he's going to be there for a bit of time. He tried to kill himself, but we don't find out until the end of the book why. I had a love/like relationship with Jeff, at times he would say things that got on my nerves but don't we wall do that?I loved Sadie, she is a fellow inmate with Jeff and a few others. I enjoyed all of the characters. I loved little Martha, I felt so, so bad for her upon reading her story.Jeff is a pretty comical dude. He says a lot of crazy stuff and he calls his Dr. , Cat Poop. His real name is Dr. Katzrupus. I would stick with Cat Poop.Some of Jeff's random thoughts:**There are five of us. In the fun house, I mean. Well, five kids. There are a bunch of adult whack-jobs, too, but they have their own ward. We get our very own Baby Nuthouse all to ourselves. It's just like at Thanksgiving, when all the kids get sent to the little table in the corner. No turkey legs for us. Just the parts no one else wants. Like giblets.••••••"You're telling the people at my school that I'm here?" I said. I was already imagining Principal Matthews giving the morning announcement. "Today's lunch will be spaghetti and meatballs, cheerleading tryouts will be held second period in the gym, and Jeff is in the nuthouse."**But there are so many things going on with Jeff. He won't talk about it to anyone. He won't talk about it in group or with the doctor. He slowly hints at things to Sadie over time. They are really good friends in there.Jeff has to come to accept himself and his sexuality and not let them get to him. With the help from family and his doctor he just might get through all of this. I really wish people were more accepting of people.**I've been thinking about that ever since. Am I lucky? Am I lucky that I didn't die? Am I lucky that, compared to the other kids here, my life doesn't seem so bad? Maybe I am, but I have to say, I don't feel lucky. For one thing, I'm stuck in this pit. And just because your life isn't as awful as someone else's, that doesn't mean it doesn't suck. You can't compare how you feel to the way other people feel. It just doesn't work. What might look like the perfect life---or even an okay life---to you might not be so okay for the person living it.**No truer words have been said. I can totally relate to Jeff in certain ways as I have some of the same mental issues. I thought this was a really good book.

This was a story that I didn't expect to fall in love with. As a survivor of suicide loss, this is a very touchy subject for me. It was written so well that I honestly found myself invested in these characters! Masterfully done and poignant, a beautiful reminder that we may all have our demons to fight, but life is worth the battle! If you or someone you know if feeling suicidal, please get help! There has been a ton of progress in treatment, and it is not shameful! You are beautiful and your life is worth living! 💜

There are too many kids in the world who choose Jeff's path, succumbing to the temptation of suicide at 15, confused about relationships, sexuality, and their place in the world. SUICIDE NOTES is a love note to those kids by author, Michael Thomas Ford, who offers a resounding message of hope in depicting one boy's journey of self-discovery.But what's marvelous about SUICIDE NOTES is the universality of Jeff's feelings. More kids than not don't attempt suicide, suffering silently instead, worrying about disappointing parents, failing to measure up, being abandoned by friends, and never fitting in. I worried about all those things. Suicide Notes was a read forced upon me for a YA lit course I'm taking this semester at NCSU. I have never been so happy about an assigned reading in my life. This read was sooo fast, I read all 300 pages in two nights, but had I not had an early morning class the next day, I could have easily done it in one night. Four hours is my total investment in the book, I forced myself to quit reading on day one just so I could have something to look forward to the next day. It is a must read!This book first off is not intended for super young kids (I'd recommend anyone in high school or college is probably the best audience). There is a bit of language (5+ uses of "f" and a few "gd" and a few others). Another thing to keep in mind is the subject matter is dark, being about a kid who attempted to commit suicide. The basic storyline is kid wakes up in a hospital's psyc ward, but doesn't think he belongs (despite having wrist slashes to say otherwise). Every chapter is another day of his 45 day sentence as he has daily sessions in therapy and begins to develop relationships with the four or five kids with him. Through these kids, Jeff is able to learn from his mistake and begin thinking about making some healthy changes in his life and working through some feelings that every teen has from time to time. This read is so important, and should be required for students 9th grade or above, simply because Michael somehow manages to get in almost every theme you can think of in reference to dealing with life as a growing teen. He talks about substance abuse, suicidal tendencies, sexual awakenings and trying to find one's identity, all major issues in today's teens. This book is powerful and hits home especially if you have a friend who is facing suicidal thoughts, or trying to find themselves. Heck, maybe you're trying to find yourself, and this book will help you see that things have a way to work out in the end with a little perseverance. It is a book that starts off sort of dark, but then develops into something very emotional and witty. Ford did a fantastic job, because even if you don't identify with Jeff, you will find some theme somewhere in this book that hits home, there are so many, heck I could easily name 10 right here but some may be spoilers so I won't. Anyway, if you're going through a hard time, read it, it will pick you up. If you have a friend going through something, read it, it will help shed light on things. Also, if your a teenager in general, read it to understand that there are other people going through the same phase you are and find themselves completely lost like every teen feels at some point. Or maybe you're like myself and are a 21 year old kid who just loves a easy read that you actually walk away from feeling inspired. No matter who you are, there is something in this book you can get out.READ THIS BOOK! I didn't want to read it but after I did, I'm putting it in my top 10 :) (this is significant considering I read at least one novel a week)

I like this book, I like the cases. It's not a boring read at all, it makes it understandable for those who don't understand law that well.

I just received the book. I am disappointed about the condition of the book.

The book was received in acceptable condition as was noted in the description. A little beat up and whatnot, but that is what I paid for. Shipping was a bit delayed but nothing too crazy.Overall smooth transaction, would probably buy from again.

My law prof assigned this book, and tells me his review of others on the topic leads him to believe this is the best one. Harrumph. It's full of note cases which tease -- but don't say how the law came out. It's horrendously edited -- full of typos and sloppiness. And in many places, badly needs updating. My prof provided additional reading for about half of our classes. I'm hoping the next edition is better. Or at least better proofread.
