First, I rarely write a one star review. This book deserves it. While I am no expert, I suspect that this is a counterfeit. I own many Little Golden Books. This one is not constructed like any of my other Little Golden Book that I own. The cover should overlap the pages, this one has been sheared off even with the pages. The edges of cover board should be wrapped, this book has bare cardboard. Lastly, there is an mal odor when you open the book that I don't want my children exposed to. I won't be returning this book because it's not worth my time.I am including pictures along with a side by side comparison for you to decide for yourself.

It's more of a description of Spider-man than a story. There is no plot. I realize this is a book for small children, but I prefer there be some sort of story to discuss with my child after reading. This didn't have that. It does have interesting pictures. I'd recommend for a kid who just wants pictures of Spider-man, but not for a child you're working with on reading comprehension.

Got this for my nephew for Christmas and he loves it, he didn't want to put it down when he unwrapped it. The cover was heavy duty, the print was large, and the pictures were colorful.

My “little” brother is 24 years old but he has a disability. It’s tricky to buy gifts for him but he loves picture books and lately has been interested in Spider Man. So, I decided to see if he would like this - he LOVES it! He spends all day looking at it and even takes it with him to school. The illustrations inside are great, though the book is less of a story and more like an introduction to the character of Spider-Man, but my brother isn’t concerned with the words on the pages. I’m happy that he’s happy.

There’s no story. The book is just an introduction to Spider-Man and some villains...a little boring. My kid liked it the first couple times I read to him.

My Grandson's love it

Perfect for a 3-4 year old who loves super heroes (but hasn't really seen much about thwm outside of Disney Jr.) to learn the basics about Spidey and the villains in an easy to understand, innocent story.

Bought for my two grandsons who are very into Spider-Man and love to read before bedtime. Very happy with this product

Absolutely fantastic forms for essence evaluation, accord building and perfume evaluations. I recommend photocopying and using in a binder. I would have appreciated an aromatic lexicon to help me get started with scent descriptors as well as perhaps a rudimentary listing of the essence families and typical perfume families. A simple list of typical top, middle, and base note aromatics would have been nice too. I like having this type of information close at hand while doing evaluations but I understand this is simply a workbook to accompany instruction.These forms are excellent tools for learning the systematic process of perfume creation and I recommend to anyone.

This is the review I left on Working The Bench: A Practical Guide to Natural Botanical Perfumery. It's the companion book to the Essence Evaluation Workbook, I felt it fitting to leave the review as a set for each on each one's page.First, let me just say there is some GREAT information in this book. Really and truly there is, and I'm appreciative of that.However, I was terribly disappointed to see that the text on each page is printed very, very small. Add to that the fact that all the text on each page is enclosed in a rectangular box centered on the page, and the total amount of text would only take up approximately 1/3 of each page if this was actually formatted like a proper print book. As such, the actual length of the book would easily be only approximately 1/3 of what is listed in the description (210 pages). Of course that would change somewhat if the text were actually a larger and more readable size as well.Even with the information that's here, I kind of feel like I've been ripped off. I was really expecting a nice, meaty book since it's listed at 210 pages... but that's just not the case. Had I realized this, I'd have never paid $32 for it. Well, I take that back. I probably would have, but if the book was formatted properly so that it's an easier read. I'd have at least known what I was getting and wouldn't feel like I do. I'd rather knowingly pay $32 for a 90 page book than to think I'm getting a 210 page book only to find out that the majority of each page is just white space.The same is true with the Essence Evaluation Workbook that's a companion to this book... there's some good info at the beginning and the end (it is formatted like I'd consider a typical print book, so there was no issue in that regard), but essentially the entire book is comprised of nothing but sheets to use in evaluating essences, creating accords, etc. Yes, I understand this is for convenience, but again, had I realized that 95% of the book was simply blank evaluation forms, I'd have never purchased it. Even when viewing the "Look Inside" feature one would believe the majority of this book is actually text, and there's nothing in the description to lead one to believe that the majority of it is comprised of repeats of the same forms over and over again. Maybe I just expected too much.I had high hopes for these two books as a companion set, but I kind of have a bad taste in my mouth simply because I feel a bit like I was ripped off. I respect Justine Crane's experience and appreciate very much that she took the time to write and publish this book in order to share her knowledge, but I honestly do wish she'd re-evaluate how it's formatted and remedy this issue.I really feel torn and kind of just wish I could return them both.

I am going to attempt to review this without giving out any spoilers...I love these characters and appreciate every book so far including this one. Yet this one felt like a bit of a filler book up to the already announced wedding of LLewelyn. The characters were not as sharp and the main protagonist (another female) felt like a darker version of Barker's arch foe's daughter. Right down to what seems to be the all too common "oh no LLewelyn is in peril" portion of the story. All the characters are present (and enjoyable!) except for Barker's ward who is mentioned a couple times and is indeed desperately needed and slated to appear but none the less never shows. Odd. This was not the only oddity as a major storyline occurrence is reported to LLewelyn (No.1 on the court) and yet he never relays this information to Barker. I love the Barker and Llewellyn books, but this one is simply not as strong as others. Barker's offices are bombed, and for all intents and purposes, Barker is unable to pursue the investigation. Matters are compounded by the arrival of Barker's older brother Caleb (working for the Pinkerton's and perhaps a nefarious character in his own right.) Llewellyn is left to not only find (and hopefully have arrested) the culprits of the bombing, but also discern what the purpose of Barker's brother's visit is - and discover if, perhaps, the two incidents are related.As with all of Thomas' books, Barker and Llewellyn are well written - a consistent strong point in the series, However, the other characters: Barker's brother, the suspects (many, many people want Baker dead, after all) and the unraveling of the mystery itself was lackluster. While a fine distraction from daily goings on, _Blood Is Blood_ is hardly the page-turner of previous works.

A paragraph fairly early in the story sums up much of what I love about the Barker and Llewelyn series:"I noticed her ring. It's important to notice things like that in our business. She wore a dress and matching hat in a color that was neither light gray nor light green, but a mixture of both. She wore a- well, I'm no fashion reporter. She was well dressed. We need not go into details."I love mysteries written during this period, but it is very difficult to find good ones that either aren't primarily romance, or focus overly much on a Downton Abbey kind of upstairs/downstairs theme. I get so tired of books that spend so much time describing in minute detail every outfit worn by every woman (and every woman's beauty described over and over). The plots in this series are well constructed, but what I really love are the characters. You really get to know them and they have depth (though to really appreciate this you probably need to read the entire series). I think the characters are more interesting than most because they are dimensional- Barker & Llewelyn themselves have more interesting backgrounds than just being rich and or military, and the supporting characters are equally fleshed out. Nothing against those who love stories focused on the aristocracy, but for those of us looking for something different, this series fills the role perfectly.Regarding this novel specifically, on the one hand I missed some of the Barker & Llewelyn action we miss because of Barker's injury. On the other hand, I was surprised that I didn't find Barker's brother to be a poor fill-in. I didn't find him to be overly stereotypical American cowboy and he was an interesting read. I will say that I did miss seeing more of the secondary characters in this novel. I hope to see more of them in the next one.I am a little nervous about this wedding and how it will change the dynamics of the books. I don't mind a little romance in my novels, but I get so much of that already, that one of the things I love about this series is that it has focused on friendships rather than on romance. We've known the characters have romantic lives, but it has intruded minimally in the stories. I'm not sure how the books will continue without pretty significantly changing the flavor with Thomas being married, which would be a huge disappointment. However, there are certainly hints that the author has a plan, so I'm hopeful.

Wil Thomas is an excellent writer and his entire set of Barker/Lewelyn novels are a joy. His characters are rich and finely drawn, his locales are detailed and put the reader in the middle of the action. I have been a big fan of his since the beginning, and heartily encourage you to give him a try. They are best read sequentially, but are great each in their own right. If you love Holmes & Watson, you will love these stories. They are unique and fun and capture London at the end of the 19th century beautifully! Enjoy!!

Seemed the book was filled with way too much filler, do we really care about Thomas' wedding planning. I did not feel that the characters were very developed this time, very little mystery. Between Barker's love interest and and Thomas' love life I felt I was reading a Romance novel rather than a mystery. Hoping the next book will restore my faith in this series.

I've enjoyed all the Barker and Llewelyn novels for many reasons. Mostly the the historical integration with the smart mysteries. This one is a bit different. More about the change in the characters' relationships. Some of the story's mystery-solving felt forced. Hence the 4 stars. Still, I now look forward to the next story where our inquiry agents will have a new personal and professional relationship.

Victorian Inquiry Agents, one quirky and brilliant the other faithful and articulate. Sound familiar? Well, they are not derivative, but original. Very British can't believe the author is an Okie. I always buy instantly and in hardback. You probably should read the first one first, (Some Danger Involved) but any order after that.

Enjoyed new character of Brother Caleb. Not my favorite book of Series but always look forward to be involved with Barker & Llewelyn and London of this Era.

My kids love the Chi's series. The love the humor and a good read. We have enjoyed all of them thus far!

Amazingly adorable and true to the original Japanese wording. Vertical translators did an excellent job transforming this to an english version.The book quality, along with the actual images/panels, are also fantastic.My only qualm, which is simply a personal preference of mine, is the replacement of "meow" with "miya" in most of the dialogue bubbles. As I read the book, and say the words out-loud in my mind, I find that "meow" seems to flow better; in addition, I am just naturally used to thinking of cats saying "meow" as opposed to "miya".

We love all of the Chi Books, they are a great read for my son...he reads them over and over again!

The book reads left to right (English Version) instead of right to left (Japanese Version) like you'd exspect with a Manga, but still worth it! All color pages and the stories are real short: good for a quick read.

Enjoy the story and artwork!

If you have any interest in Greenland or in trecking solo, this book will be very valuable. It's written in a very readable fashion, personal anecdotes, never dry or boring. Very informative about the fjords, Glaciers, lakes and small villages of Greenland.

An interesting way to describe the beauty of Greenland - and the spirit of the trekker is passed through to the reader. This book provides an interesting description of Greenland, and some of its history, which I trust will be helpful when we take a cruise in the area, stopping at some of the places described in the book.

I got a real insight into one of those worlds that most of us will never visit. The travels of one man...his thoughts, the people he meets, the weather which really puts a crimp in his travels. I actually felt I needed to go get a blanket to wrap around me as I was reading it!

Not much is written about Greenland. This book about one person trekking over parts of Greenland provides background for people, culture and places.

I didn't finish it. Not really my type of story. I love Greenland but not this book. Just go there.

The author made three relatively easy trekkings in Greenland and wrote a book about it. Lots of superlatives and not a lot of substance.

Good read.
