Alright, I admit that through the Y2K days Hank has become a friend of mine and some of my corresdpondence with him is quoted in the book.Probably no one is reading this book now or the reviews three years after Y2K, but in retrospect we should all consider how so many of us were sold terrifying angles by people who had their own axes to grind. People were so up in arms with their opinions, that those of us publishing less than alarmist views received everything from insults to death threats for interfering with the public reaching what others thought was the appropriate level of panic (including setting aside food, guns, etc.)I'd like to think it couldn't happen again. I'd like to.

It's easy in retrospect to see the clear evidence of Hank's latest endeavor to wake the Christian community up. The Millennium Bug Debugged is a well researched book concerning Y2K reports that exposes other books (like the Millennium Bug) hidden agenda to make money preying on peoples fear.It would be almost comical to read back on positive reviews and comments from "experienced" programmers and computer experts for other books (like the Millennium Bug)if lives weren't devastated by it's ramifications.Good job Hank! This is a pretty basic book; all of which can probably be found on Google, if you haven't already searched the subject. I got nothing out of it, and I doubt you will either.

I thought this book was exceptional in that it was more of a practical guide for producing documentaries, than a philosophical one. It answered many questions and gave the type of advice that was useful, especially for those who are upping their production a notch.

Breaks down the process very clearly. Good index.

I have been a massive fan of this book ever since I was given it as a present, and have read it cover to cover on several occasions. It is incredibly detailed and informative; and covers every aspect of documentary making. It is a must have for any filmmakers, at whatever level. The author is brilliant and knows his stuff! I would recommend to all.

I really loved this book! Unlike most filmmaking books, Lindenmuth was not stingy in sharing information! From the detailed lessons to the get your feet wet/hands-on assignments...you will ACTUALLY LEARN the documentary filmmaking process. Purchased for lunches - was intrigued by the variety of types, salads, grains bowls, rice bowls, meats and pictures are great. We have worked through about half the book so far and have not really enjoyed most of them. Probably won't make any of them a second time. Portions are often too large and many are a bit bland or out of balance. Thick "sauces" in bottom of jar are a bit hard to retrieve although a couple have been tasty (ex. Mediteranean rice bowl ). There are better versions of a few recipes in other books.

Some of the soups are not good as a minute made lunch, such as the Asian Vegetable and Tofu Soup? It tasted bad because the flavors didn't have time to combine, so be careful which you choose to take or you'll end up stuck having to buy something or go without. I suggest trying it at home first.

Overall great ideas ...however it would have been nice to have more pictures of the recepes.

This is a great meals in jars recipe book. I've enjoyed making lunches and dinners on Sundays that I can eat for several days throughout the week. Well worth the purchase price and a good addition to any modern cook book library.

I was looking for meals I can pack for my diabetic husband to carry to work, where he is not allowed to use the (communal???) fridge to store his lunch. I can easily fit a mason jar and some freeze packs in his tote. This book has dozens of ideas for salads and other totables he can eat, and not just a table of x amount dressing on the bottom, then add y amount of hard veggies (select from table), top with z amount of soft veggies (again, select from table) and cover. It also includes about how long the recipes will hold in the fridge if packed according to their guidelines. I am really looking forward to using it. Only four stars because I don't yet know how many of the recipes will actually work.

The majority of the recipes were for one serving. Although one can multiply the amounts called for in the recipe, it seems to be a needless task. I was simply not prepared for a cookbook which featured 2/3 of it recipes for single servings. I think the information about the cookbook should have said that the recipes were for single servings.

"It" being writing or speaking. And Paul Brians makes it fun. No easy task for someone writing about word usage. A worthy addition to the desk or bookshelf, where it will find frequent and happy use. And pay no attention to the three negative reviews. Their complaint is only that the book is about the use of the right word, and not about grammar, punctuation, or spelling. This complaint reminds me of the fellow who bought a camel and complained that it was not a sailboat. The complainers must not have read the "Look Inside" material from the book that is available on the Amazon website. If they had, they would have seen that the book is all about the choice of the right word. And the title of the book, Common Errors in English Usage, actually signals its content. The dictionary definition of "usage" tells us that it means the way in which a word or phrase is normally and correctly used. People simply should not buy a well-advertised and properly labeled camel and then complain that it is not a sailboat. It is not fair to the camel.

I've been referring to Paul Brians' work on common errors in English for many years, starting when it was available only as a web site. I recently purchased a copy of the paper version. I have recommended both of these sources to both graduate and undergraduate students. The clarity and good humor with which Dr. Brians explains the multitude of common confusions about English is beautiful to behold. As a few examples -- do you know when to use affect vs effect, lie vs lay, do vs due? Read this book, or refer to it as needed, and you may find yourself spontaneously speaking/writing better English! I highly recommend it.

Interesting little book. Purchased it because I second-guess myself sometimes when I'm writing for work and need to make sure everything is absolutely correct. And I have it on my Kindle, which goes everywhere with me, so I can use it at work or at home.

I have been visiting Paul Brians' website for years and finally decided to spring for the book. Unlike the website it is organized alphabetically and then indexed by the type of error. It is a great reference tool and I appreciate that Brians is good about specifying when there is disagreement about a specific matter. The physical book doesn't have the highest quality paper or binding but it is much nicer than a pocket dictionary.

These parts, or sections, make this a worthy purchase: Commonly Confused Expressions, Mangled Expressions, Problematic Prepositions, and Redundancies. The organized TOC and thorough index earn the highest mark for this third edition. Thank you!--GP
