About the Author

The late John I. Ingle, DDS, was a pioneer in the field of endodontics and served as an educator and mentor to generations of endodontists. During a career that began in 1942, he was an international lecturer, professor and department chair of periodontics and endodontics at the University of Washington, Dean of the School of Dentistry at the University of Southern California, and he also served the Institute of Medicine of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. He was president of Palm Springs Seminars, a leading institution of dental continuing education. Dr. Ingle was also a past President of the American Association of Endodontists, and the AAE awarded him the Ralph F. Sommer Award and the Edgar D. Coolidge Award. In 2001 he was inducted into the USC School of Dentistry Hall of Fame. Ilan Rotstein, DDS, is Associate Dean of Continuing Education at the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry at the University of Southern California, where he also serves as Chair of the Division of Endodontics, Orthodontics and General Practice Residency.

Great book. It is not necessarily the first book for basic cocktail making. (for that I would recommend "Cocktails, Cocktails and more Cocktails" by Hester Thompson). This is more like a second level book, Cocktails 201. It briefly covers the basics, then quickly moves on to variations and new creations. And what yummy drinks! Reiner is a real artist. The only drawback is that a lot of the recipes require less common ingredients or homebrew preparations, but if you've got the time to spare and you are serious about next level craft cocktailing I highly recommend this book!

Love this book of cocktail recipes. There's a lot of things in it I would have never thought of to put together to be honest, and they've all been tasty. I like that many of them do not require many ingredients. There are a few that require some special ones and that can be somewhat frustrating, but if you take the trip and gather it together, you're in for a tasty surprise. I've been happy especially with the party punches! Those are great.

Great book! Have used several of the recipes and last weekend used it to fix Mai Tais at a Hawaiian themed party and they were a big hit. Some of the recommended liquors are hard to find so I took the book to Total Wine and asked one of the guys there to help me find suitable substitutes, which they did. Don't get hung up on the brand names, just enjoy the recipes.

This is such a beautiful book and I think a necessity for any special occasion. Who doesn’t love a nice tropical cocktail sitting on the lanai, looking at the ocean. Well, even if you don’t live near a tropical beach, each of these cocktails will “transport” you to your favorite setting.

A beautiful, thoughtful book full of recipes I never would have thought to try! Love that it's organized by season, full of fresh ingredients and has plenty of tips - that are just as entertaining and charming as instructional! Great for me as I'm a novice at the craft cocktail. I'm working my way slowly through the book - following the seasons. I'm sure it won't take long for someone in Hollywood to see what a great movie shaking through this book and the cocktail parties that go with it would make! Until then - it's my go-to gift this year. Cheers!

A fountain of information. We rarely drink spirits any longer but with this book I am tempted to have one every once in a while. The author explains the reasoning behind each concept. We hope to visit her establishments in NY.

I collect bar and cookbooks. This has instantly become one of my most used books. I purchased it just in time for a 4th of July BBQ. Julie's tips and recipes are really helpful to host larger gatherings and make really great drinks. If you have not tried the Gin Blossom cocktail, I highly recommend it.

Count Your Way Through China is a good book to enhance a first level Chinese class since counting in Chinese is typically one of the first things they learn. Each 2-page layout is for a number and shows the character and gives the pinyin and then teaches you something about China or Chinese culture that coordinates with the number (e.g., two giant pandas, five musical tones, the festival of nine stars of the plow, ten major dynasties). This is a simple, interesting and educational book. I enjoy it because it presents a wide variety of interesting information about China (geography, musical instruments, writing, animals, etc.) while organized around teaching the Chinese numbers. Even as an adult with some knowledge of China, I was able to learn a little from the book, as I'm sure children will learn even more. I love learning about a variety of aspects of a culture!

The only Chinese words in this book are the 10 numbers. The "Pronunciation Guide" does not use the standard romanization (pinyin) nor does it even hint that Chinese is a multi-toned language. The text is simplistic but uninteresting--had there been a bit of Dr Seuss or Boynton rhyming it might have been more fun.The pictures are nice.I'm learning Mandarin and hoping to teach my daughter as she grows up. This book won't help.

This book is an excellent tool to teaching to count in chinese. My daughters ages 3 and 6 found this book fun. It makes learning more fun and also show beautiful pictures of china.

Very sweet and funny book! I love the way the book goes back and forth between MacLaine and Terry (her dog). She in true MacLaine style goes deep into the unknown and the "what if's" about life. The detail she gives to the surroundings makes you feel like you're right there with them going along with them on movie sets and mountains and walks. Such a great book and I'll be reading it many times over throughout the years. MacLaine ALWAYS entertains while making you think and helps you keep your mind open! Thank you Miss Shirley MacLaine!

Great book about life death and the love of a "forever " dog. Dogs never die they remain with us!

Shirkley McClaine never surprises me with her books. This book, OUT ON A LEASH" is really different in format. She writes a chapter, then TERRY, herterrier "writes a chapter on her view book of life and spiritualism," and living with Shirley. Well, you know Terry didn't really write it, but I really enjoyed the book, which was a fast two day read for me. If you enjoy Shirley McClaine as an actress and writer, buy the book, please. It is truly different, and offers view points on life and living from a dog's point of view. Thanks!

I love Shirley Maclaine and have read all of her books. This book didn't disappoint, rather, it made me feel moved and uplifted from beginning to end.

I've decided to write a review after perusing all the ones already written, and after reading the book myself. I want any future potential buyer to know what's what. Disregard all those comments that say Shirley MacLaine has lost it, is fuzzy-minded or too sentimental. While "Out On a Limb" remains Shirley's best book so far, this one is clear-headed as can be and deals with a different subject, a magical animal. What those other comments indicate is the readers' lack of a sense of humor.You know some people are so darn literal, right? In truth, there are wonderful insights and wisdoms throughout the book. If you don't like animals, or if you think a dog is a dog is a dog, then you probably won't relate that well to the book, unless you recognize truth when you see it. This experience Shirley is having with a canine is rare. Her dog, Terry. is not your father's four-legged pal or your mother's cutsy, cuddly snookums. It's not about 90% of what most of us have experienced with a family dog or an adorable, sweet, or smart dog or cat that we loved and remember fondly. No, this is that rare 10% of animals that come into one's life that transcend the ordinary pooch or pussy. You have to experience it to understand it.Shirley is NOT ga-ga in her dotage over a pet! She has been gifted with one of these transcendent animals and she is right: they do speak to their humans in many ways, and they love you like no man or woman has ever loved you (unless you're very, very lucky) before. I'm not talking about devotion. That's ordinary, expected. I'm talking about the real thing: unconditional love. We use that expression too much these days and most of us are lying about it. it doesn't have the SAM acess code.... Really?

Nice edit upgrade from the 2010 but print is so small that it requires a magnifying glass to read it - which is repeatedly awkward to follow through with weekly reading assignments. Suggestion: Print in Volume I and Volume II and increase the font points so it can be read. If not you'll end up going to subletting it to a computer company to do it all online - which is what I had to do after I bought the book - which is now a paper weight..

Although I received the book a couple books late because that is what the sender wanted to do I guess? This book has helped me learn more about micro. 2013 than i already knew. As a teenager... Or used to be it is easy to adapt to the technology and figure it out. But I really love this book and would recommend it to anyone that is taking a software tools class...even though it may be online.
