Pablo Noriega is a flower essence therapist and naturopath trained in Chinese Medicine. He has taught courses and seminars in Spain, Italy, Chile, Argentina, Costa Rica, and Mexico. He is a professor of Chinese Medicine and Bach Flower Therapy at two institutes in Buenos Aires and part of the team of flower essence therapists at Anthemon Institute in Barcelona, Spain, and at Mount Vernon Institute of Flower Essence Therapists in Santiago, Chile. Loey Colebeck, translator, is an accredited flower essence therapist. From 2003 to 2014 she studied and practiced Bach Flower Therapy in Spain. She lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Great book bridging TCM and Bach Flower Essences.

A beautiful book. Highly recommended.

Great learning book. I'm just beginning to learn and listen to what the experts are teaching us about flower essence theory with Chinese Medicine. . Helps in understanding the strange words ( Yin Yang) and meaning. I have hear the word Yin Yang and thought it was funny. Excellent book. I recommend it.

Great book.

Pablo Noriega approaches the intersection of Bach Flower Therapy and Chinese Medicine with a spirit of openness and inspiration but which is not lacking in foundation. On the contrary, he took care to write it over the course of some ten years, and it includes knowledge that he has gathered and synthesized not only in clinical practice but also as a colleague and contemporary of top international professionals in Bach Flower Therapy and an insatiable thirst for knowledge in Chinese Medicine. His access to knowledge of Dr. Orozco's Transpersonal Patterns of the Bach Flowers (as of now accessible only in Spanish), allowed him to see clear patterns in the Flowers' Qi, so to speak, and apply them to Chinese Medicine's theories of Yin Yang, Wu Xing, Zang Fu, Qi and Xue, and Wu Shen, for regulating Spirit and Qi, without losing the tradition of a personalized Flower Therapy. He also opens new doors to Flower Therapists based in time-tested knowledge. My employer, a Fortune 100 financial services company, has been overhauling its management strategy. One of the elements that they have been teaching us is the "PDAC Circle" (Plan/Do/Check/Adjust) , which they also call the "Deming Circle". A little googling found this book, which I decided to read to see just where all these techniques they were teaching us came from. He goes into that in depth, and more, with references. It's very helpful to be able to associate the training I get at work with the ideas and case studies that Deming presents.What I wasn't expecting is that this is a really good read. Deming writes extremely well, he knows his stuff, and he has a vast wealth of experience to draw from. I have a sense that at this point in his life he was a bit angry or frustrated that American industry was still riding the path to ruin even after he had shown in Japan that his methods work.

Dr. Deming best summarizes the purpose of the book: "This book teaches the transformation that is required for survival, a transformation that can only be accomplished by man. A company can not buy its way into quality - it must be led into quality by top management. A theory of management now exists. Never again may anyone say that there is nothing new in management to teach."He then proceeds with outlining and subsequently detailing his "14 points for management". These fourteen points, he argues, form the basis of the required transformation of the American industry:"1. Create constancy of purpose toward improvement of product and service, with the aim to become competitive and to stay in business, and to provide jobs.2. Adopt the new philosophy. We are in a new economic age. Western management must awaken to the challenge, must learn their responsibilities, and take on leadership for change.3. Cease dependence on inspection to achieve quality. Eliminate the need for inspection on a mass basis by building quality into the product in the first place.4. End the practice of awarding business on the basis of price tag. Instead, minimize total cost. Move toward a single supplier for any one item, on a long-term relationship of loyalty and trust.5. Improve constantly and forever the system of production and service, to improve quality and productivity, and thus constantly decrease costs.6. Institute training on the job.7. Institute leadership. The aim of supervision should be to help people and machines and gadgets to do a better job. Supervision of management is in need of overhaul, as well as supervision of production workers.8. Drive out fear, so that everyone may work effectively for the company.9. Break down barriers between departments. People in research, design, sales, and production must work as a team, to foresee problems of production and in use that may be encountered with the product or service.10. Eliminate slogans, exhortations, and targets for the work force asking for zero defects and new levels of productivity. Such exhortations only create adversarial relationships, as the bulk of the causes of low quality and low productivity belong to the system and thus lie beyond the power of the work force.11a. Eliminate work standards (quotas) on the factory floor. Substitute leadership.11b. Eliminate management by objective. Eliminate management by numbers, numerical goals. Substitute leadership.12a. Remove barriers that rob the hourly worker of his right to pride of workmanship. The responsibility of supervisors must be changed from sheer numbers to quality.12b. Remove barriers that rob people in management and in engineering of their right to pride of workmanship. This means, inter alia, abolishment of the annual or merit rating of management by objective.13. Institute a vigorous program of education and self-improvement.14. Put everybody in the company to work to accomplish the transformation. The transformation is everybody's job."While the book may seem dry at points, particularly if being read from cover to cover, it encompasses numerous gems in management. Particularly as it relates to the overall management of and leadership in quality and its importance to re-gain competitive edge.Below are key excerpts from the book, that I found particularly insightful:1- "This increase in production led to a new goal. The new goal will create questions and resentment among production workers. Their first thought is that the management is never satisfied. Whatever we do, they ask for more. Here are the fruits of exhortations: 1) Failure to accomplish the goal 2) Increase in variability 3) Increase in proportion defective 4) Increase in costs 5) Demoralization of the work force 6) Disrespect for the management"2- "The job of management is to replace work standards by knowledgeable and intelligent leadership...Wherever work standards have been thrown out and replaced by leadership, quality and productivity have gone up substantially, and people are happier on the job."3- "Incidentally, computation of savings from use of a gadget (automation or robotic machinery) ought to take account of total cost, as an economist would define it. In my experience, people are seldom able to come through with figures on total cost."4- "Quality must be measured by the interaction between three participants: (1) the product itself; (2) the user and how he uses the product, how he installs it, how he takes care of it, what he was led to expect; 3) instructions for use, training of customer and training of repairman, service provided for repairs, availability of parts. The top vertex of the triangle does not by itself determine quality."5- "There are two types of quality in any system, whether it be banking or manufacturing. The first is quality of design. These are the specific programs and procedures that promise to produce a saleable service or product: in other words, what the customer requires. The second type is quality of production, achievement of results with the quality promised. Quality control works both with the product and with the design of the product. And it is at this point that quality control begins to differ from the traditional system. To find the mistake is not enough. It is necessary to find the cause behind the mistake, and to build a system that minimizes future mistakes."6- "...Good agreement between independent results of two men would only mean they have a system. It would not mean they are both right. There is no right answer except by methods agreed upon by experts."7- "Figures on accidents do nothing to reduce the frequency of accidents. The first step in reduction of the frequency of accidents is to determine whether the cause of an accident belongs to the system or to some specific person or set of conditions. Statistical methods provide the only of analysis to serve as a guide to the understanding of accidents and to their reduction."

Having worked in the TQM space for the last 20 years I have to say that few people fully appreciate the importance of Deming’s management method. Contrary to the terminology used (‘Total Quality Management’) it actually deals with creating and sustaining successful organizations. The latter term: ‘sustaining’ has a fundamental importance as organizations should not be run for short term admiration on the stock exchange, but for long term endurance and profit sustainability.‘Out of the Crisis’ was written in 1986 but it still remains valid, possibly even more than back in the 1980s, as these days far too many managers tend to do their jobs based on gut feeling, or being influenced by an article in the media or on the internet.You will most likely find the book difficult to read as it relies on a different paradigm and it takes time to adopt it. I was looking for a baked donut book, and this one seemed to be one of the most highly rated ones with baked donuts in the title. Going off another reviewer that was unhappy because "much of it is baked donuts" I decided to purchase this one. But out of 150 recipes, only ~40 or so baked and 110 are fried. They do look interesting, so I'll probably keep it for myself for just those ones, but as a primary source of baked donuts perhaps look elsewhere.

I was looking for a donut recipe book that actually had a good amount of baked donut recipes that I wanted to bake. This is the only one I came across but I am NOT disappointed at all. Great recipes and so far the 2 baked were hits and gone within the morning time.

I have had better luck with the baked donut recipes, and am still experimenting with making donuts with my recently purchased fryer. I can say, it's not as easy as I thought it would be. Looking forward to trying new recipes from this book. I like the practical steps and tips, the fact it provides both fried and baked donut recipes, as well as different glazes.

We love this cook book/ donut recipes. We made about 6 different fonts so far and all of them were great. And there's was still alot of them err want to try. I would try all 150 but with 150 different donuts you'll at least find 20 to 50 you want to try. I think it's worth the buy. And for the price you'll be happy

I bought it for myself. It’s a great book with high quality pictures. The book is conveniently divided into chapters "Breakfast", "Lunch", "Dinner" and other snacks (such as salads and healthy desserts). Most of the recipes are easy in the preparation and consist of simple and clear products, each dish information about fat and calories.

A fantastic cookbook for those who want to make healthy keto meals fast. I'm not the best cook but this makes cooking easy and simple. Clear instructions presented in an easy to read format. Includes food staples, grocery lists, meal plans, and macro info. I like the wide variety of recipes, especially the jar salad and cheesy zucchini. The ingredients can be found in supermarkets which is perfect. Can’t wait to try all the recipes!

Lovely cookbook. Recipes are fast and can be made in 15 mins. There are a variety of recipes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Desserts are also included. This is ideal for people who want something quick and easy to make.

Well, at least this book has recipes and some nutritional breakdown. However, the only carbs given are net carbs, and what we really need to know is total carbs. Deleting another "keto" book that is useless to me.

Okay, so this is a decent story line. I read the first novel & it was fine, if a bit repetitive about some issues in Daisy's past. Here we are in the sequel & it is obvious once again this author relies heavily on repetition of key issues to keep her story line going. I am on Chapter 14 & I'm certain Daisy has referred to being abandoned at age three by her birth mother at least once per chapter, often 2-3 times. For heaven's sake! She is 31 years old & still just about e-v-e-r-y thought sequence, every fear, every emotion she experiences is linked back to her abandonment at age 3! It becomes tedious and annoying to read about a character who is so tunnel-visioned in this regard. Give your readers & your characters some credit, Ms. Taylor. You have good ideas to begin with & still you explain & re-explain & overdwell on the same issues over & over. Your adult characters need to grow up, at least if you want older adult readers to enjoy your work.

Mary Ellen Taylor is becoming one of my favorite authors. Her stories are written simply with real life characters and conversations. The plots are easily understood and appealing and draw the reader in. Her descriptions of life are super real and enticing. She shows the plain truth of how hard life can be and the choices so complicated with consequences for each and every decision. I love the bakery and close knit family there, all pulling together, fighting, laughing, standing by faithfully during hard times. They are very satisfying stories and not always what you expected to happen. LOve her writing. Like sitting down after along day in the corner comfy chair with a hot cup of coffee and a delicious cookie and diving into a new deminsion of live by reading her stories. See Gee.

Sweet Expectations is the sequel to Union Street Bakery. Daisy McCrae, ex-financier has taken on the role of running the bakery so that her father can retire. All of this is established in the first book. This book picks up with Daisy and her sisters renovating the bakery that has been in the family for several generations. The mystery begins when an old recipe box is uncovered during the demolition of a wall in the bakery. Too tired and suffering from what she thinks is the flu, Daisy sets the recipe box aside during the renovations. When she finally picks it up she discovers the recipes of Jenna Davis, a former employee, along with an old photo of the girl standing between two WWII soldiers. Amidst the turmoil of the renovations Daisy finds herself dealing with morning sickness and a quick trip to the doctor confirms the fact. The only problem is that the baby's father is not her last boyfriend but a one-night stand with an old colleague she considers a jerk. Oh, and then there's the ghost of Jenna who wants Daisy to find Jenna's son who was taken away the day after he was born as Jenna died during childbirth.There's a lot going on here but all of it is marvelous. Not one dull moment. Yes, there are some things that are repetitious but all in all I found it a very satisfying book. Easy to read and follow, a charming tale overall. I certainly hope the author is working on a third installment as I'm curious to follow the adventures of all the McCrae sisters.

I purchased "Union Street Bakery" from Kindle Bargain and fell in love with the atmosphere of the bakery and especially the characters, Daisy, Rachel and Margaret. After finishing, I quickly bought "Sweet Expectations" and LOVED it. Usually I don't read cozy and warm, but Ms. Taylor did a lovely job of intertwining both without being ridiculous. In fact she has hooked me so badly I pray she will come out with another from the Bakery series. In the meantime I will treat myself to her books on Alexandria.Please Ms. Taylor give us a peek into Walter Gordon and all that occurs in his life with Daisy and the rest of the crew.

A very well-thought-out and well-executed story. Before I picked it up, I did read another review, and that reviewer was **so wrong** I cannot stand it! Had to write something here: Daisy' s frequent return to her abandonment as a toddler WAS NOT overdone ~ I simply cannot see how ANYONE could think that! It is a very crucial piece of who she is; of *course* it's going to play an even bigger role now that she's expecting. To believe a person can/should 'just get on with it' and 'grow up' is unrealistic and insensitive, Char Neena! Maybe you need a different form of fiction ~ I'm thinking childhood psychological trauma isn't for you ......

I read the first Union St. Bakery book and enjoyed it. This second book has a lot to offer, with a story within the story which was bitter-sweet. I do have some criticisms. I found myself getting really annoyed with the main character because of her bullheadedness, plus her obsession with her birth mother that continues in this book. It got really tiring for her to repeatedly wonder what she (as a 3 year old!) had done to make her mother abandon her. Get over it. She was raised by a lovely family. Another gripe is her referring to an expected baby as "the kid." A kid is a baby goat. This name must have been used dozens of times. The ending was satisfying, and if there is a 3rd book I will probably read it.

I like the family story it was such a nice easy gentle read learning about all the family members the closeness they had about their adoption of a child left in their Bakery and made her one of their own and her story and the stories from the past intriguing made you keep wanting to read

This story about 3 sisters is very emotional and heartfelt. I loved the day-to-day interactions among the family. How they handled the adopted story was brilliant. This is a lovely Christmas story for anyone about love and sacrifice and how there are still good men and women out there.
