This was a required book (the textbook along with the exercise book) for a college class. I'm an English major and I have a lot of grammar books, so from my perspective these two Working with Words books are some of the best I've seen. Very user friendly, good examples, easy to comprehend; I'd definitely recommend for someone that would like to work on their grammar skills.
this isn't what I had hoped, it's too simplistic almost written as English for a 2nd language person.
It's a mess of a book. Not structure and lose organization. Major points are mixed in everywhere and good luck finding them because they are the same blue highlight as minor examples...
I bought this book for a basic writing course for school. It taught me a few things I did not know and provided easy and clear examples. I am even thinking about buying it (originally rented it) since I like it so much.
Even though this book was required for one of my classes, it was such an interesting book. It was enjoyable and informative.
This book has helped me with my grammar. I'm a terrible writer, and I'm not very good at grammar. I'm taking a required pre-masters degree English course, and this is one of the textbooks that is required.
