Some of the more complicated recipes may challenge the typical teenager, especially the time-consuming ones with multiple ingredients. Most are healthy, though a several use cheese, chips, nachos, or other ingredients that push the “healthy†label to the limit. The author presents the recipes as alternatives to store-bought stuff (frozen pizza, microwave waffles, premade wings, etc.) with unhealthy sugars, preservatives, salts, and the like that may cause bloating, excess skin oil, acne, dehydration, or possibly weaken the immune system. The book consists of a brief introduction followed by six chapters: 1. Cooking Terminology (e.g., al dente, baste, blanch, steep, whisk), 2. Seventeen Breakfast Recipes (e.g., breakfast quesadilla, pizza for breakfast, oatmeal breakfast bars, smoothie bowl), 3. Fifteen Lunch Recipes (e.g., black bean salad, Vietnamese chicken sandwich , cheesy veggie rollups), Four Snacks (grilled cheese bites, spicy popcorn, cool mint and pineapple ice, 5. Twenty Dinner Recipes (e.g., sloppy joes, zucchini flatbread with mixed veggies, chicken meatballs, black bean chili, teriyaki salmon), 6. Ten sweet but healthy desserts (e.g., milkshake pops, coconut macaroons, peanut butter ice cream, baked pears).The book’s title seems to be targeted at teens or their parents, but it would probably be useful to any cooking novice or lazy person who wants to change his or her eating habits from takeout, fast food, restaurant or home microwave junk to make more healthy and less expensive meals at home using natural (mostly) ingredients. My family certainly could have benefited from this book back in the day before we learned how to cook healthy food the hard way. Highly recommended.

I am really enjoyed from this book. This fascinating guide contains a comprehensive list of cooking terms, equipment, and techniques as well as a wealth of amazing recipes. This book contains breakfast recipes, lunch recipes, snack recipes, dinner recipes & sweet recipes. I read this one as it said this is a cookbook for teens and I was surprised to know all these superb yet easy to prepare meals that are really perfect for teens. However, there truly is no age limit to those who want to create delicious quick meals, snacks and desserts. Anyone can learn from these recipes! I really like how eating healthy and simply is made accessible to teens, especially for those that are getting ready to head off to college.
The book is clear and easy to follow. I got the idea to get this cook book after another relative bought it for their son. He is making so many great meals.There are sections for one person meals, and cooking for the entire family, so if you want your kid to eat more than just a bowl of cereal when they get home from school, or on summer vacation, its great for that.. or they can have dinner waiting when you get home or on the weekend! As a college student, this is the kind of cookbook I want. It provides simple easy recipes. The ingredient lists are short and easy to fulfill, and more importantly, they tell me exactly how long I should expect to be cooking and how many servings I can expect to make. My first priority is my studies; I don't have time to try and figure out where to buy my ingredients and how long I'm going to spend cooking. Thankfully, these recipes don't take more than an hour to make for the most part. Fantastic cookbook!
what I love about this cookbook is not entirely because it is made for teens but because of how delicious, healthy and easy to prepare the recipes are. Preparing a meal with different in different kinds of aspects attracts me most and lots to choose from so I won't surely easily get lose appetite every meal. The fact that despite every recipes are delicious, it is easy to follow the steps on how to prepare it so I won't easily lose track in preparing each and every one of it.
I cannot say enough good about this cook book. My 13 year old son is really enjoying this cookbook. Apparently, no adult involvement was needed, he can make these things on his own, under supervision from mom of course, and feels so proud of himself. We have only tried a few recipes, but they have all turned out well. Highly recommend this for kids that want to learn to cook and parents looking for a creative way to get their kids to eat a greater variety of foods.
